Deploying Avanti Classic

Installing Avanti Classic updates takes time and requires technical skills. This will change with the launch of our brand new, cutting edge deployment model for the Avanti Classic platform. It has been designed from the ground up to ease the management of the Avanti Classic platform and to reduce your IT costs.

  • Administer cumulative patch updates (including the databases) from a centralized location.
  • Update workstations no matter where they are located from the same centralized location.
  • Download the cumulative patch update on your own without our friendly product support team.
  • Roll out application updates with the click of a button.
  • Seamlessly upload database backups for faster product support/assistance when you need it most.

Enhanced Reporting

Order Entry

During this session will we review a few of the lesser used areas of Order Entry including the generation of Purchase Orders and Requisitions from Order Entry as well as setting up the Turn Around Time feature and calculation of budgets.

We will review Checkpoints usage in Order entry for tracking status prior to the milestone completion. The Change Order functionality has been dramatically enhanced to capture specific tasks, pricing and updates to previously scheduled jobs. We will also review the latest sample Job Ticket reports available that use bar codes to make Shop Floor data collection more accurate and efficient. Back to agenda

Wireless Warehouse Management

The Avanti Wireless Warehouse Management Modules expand the functionality of the Avanti Inventory Management system into the area of wireless technology by allowing handheld computers to be used to enter/validate data and print barcode labels. Your mobile unit automatically updates the Avanti database remotely, and can be done from anywhere in the warehouse through a wireless connection, eliminating the need for re-keying in your inventory information.

During this session we will explore the different applications available on the mobile application and show how the mobile applications integrate with the Avanti Inventory Management system. Back to agenda

CRM/Job Manager

Converting “data” into usable information is a constant challenge in managing any system. CRM and Job Manager are tools that can help to meet this challenge on a daily basis. The ability to answer a customer’s question, determine status and glean information can be found at your fingertips before having to get up and “walk the floor”.

We will discuss how to effectively use these tools with multiple sort criteria as well as utilizing ‘ad-hoc’ reporting techniques. We will also discuss using CRM to track Sales activity, CSR follow-up and customer history. Back to agenda

Inventory & Fulfillment

In this session we will review the new and existing features in the inventory and fulfillment modules. Some of the new features include the new ‘Box’ tab in inventory maintenance as well as the ‘deplete from inventory’ option in receipts from production. We will also cover day to day activities such as inventory commitments and issues, inventory adjustments and the inventory count module.

In addition, there will be a review of pick tickets as well as enhancements made to order entry and shipping to accommodate fulfillment items. Back to agenda

Road Map Interactive

This interactive session will review the planned product road map for v14.0.0 of the Avanti Classic platform. We will touch on our new Deployment Tool, expected to ship by the end of 2017. There is enormous potential to further expand the Avanti Classic.

We will also review how customers can submit/vote for road map enhancements that could be included in a future release of v14.0.0 as well as other major efforts planned for later in 2017. Back to agenda

Products & Kits

Products and kits are a key tool in workflow efficiency. During this session, we will go into detail about the setup a usage of this module. There are so many features to be explored, including the use of lot quantity, global originals, adding turnaround times and setting milestone predecessors, to name a few. We will look at setting up fast tasks for quick and easy creation of products.

We will also look at using your products for web (integrated with our eAccess module) and setting up questions for your web-users to answer. This will limit the amount of user intervention down the line and automate job creation. Back to agenda

In today’s fast pace world, the growing need to provide your customer access to your full line of products at just the click of the mouse or touch of the screen has become more and more the standard of everyday business.  More importantly, the need to reduce cycle time and eliminate non-value add activities has a direct impact to your bottom line.

We will demonstrate how eAccess can help your business reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction while also increasing business opportunities.  Customers can submit jobs through your website using a variety of methods: online order form, Catalog items such as templates, or fulfillment of Finished Goods items. Customers can also check the status of their orders, review invoices and check the status of customer owned inventory. Patrick Bolan - Avanti Systems

Patrick Bolan

As President and CEO of Avanti, Patrick Bolan is responsible for driving the company’s corporate strategy, business development and sales.

With the goal of establishing Avanti as North America’s leading provider of Print MIS solutions, Mr. Bolan has sharpened Avanti’s strategic focus and concentrated its R&D investments on three long-term growth areas: Handling Multiple lines of business (i.e. digital, offset, large format, mail and fulfillment), Business Intelligence and JDF as the integration framework to support the next-generation print shop.

Mr. Bolan was named among the Top 50 most influential people in printing by PrintAction Magazine. He has also been appointed to the Advisory Council of the Graphic Communications Management Program at Ryerson University and is a frequent speaker at Graphic Arts tradeshows and Print Association meetings and is often consulted by analysts and the media for current trends in the industry.

Mr. Bolan is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a major in Economics.

Stephen McWilliam - Avanti Systems

Stephen McWilliam

Stephen McWilliam is the Executive Vice President for Avanti, directing all strategic marketing activities as well as Avanti’s Alliances and Partnership Strategy. His extensive market knowledge relating to the high technology and the printing industry has helped him author numerous articles in industry publications. Mr. McWilliam is also a regular speaker on topics such as Print Shop automation, Web-to-Print technologies, and leading high-growth organizations.

Mr. McWilliam has over 28 years of experience in building Phase II organizations, having held executive roles, both in Canada and Europe, in several high growth companies.

He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University as well as an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Waterloo.

When not busy working in the printing industry, Stephen is a very avid bagpiper.

Zehava Tyberg

Product Manager, Avanti Classic

Zehava Tyberg is the Product Manager of the Avanti Classic product with over 20+ years of experience working in the graphics arts printing industry. Her knowledge of the Classic platform is unparalleled. She is responsible for managing the Avanti Classic road map and works closely with the Product Support and Development teams to expand and improve the functionality of the product.

She also has vast experience working in the Avanti Classic and Dynamics GP databases with the use of Crystal and SQL. Zehava lives in Toronto with her husband and three children.

Product Support Lead, Avanti Classic

Michelle Gelula graduated from Ryerson University with a bachelor of technology in Graphic Communications Management. She worked as a self-employed graphic designer during her studies, and graduated to working at Avanti after receiving her degree.

She leads the product support team for Avanti Classic and has been with the company for 4 years. Her product expertise excels in the Estimating and Inventory & Fulfillment modules.

Jerry McNeely

Business Workflow Specialist

Jerry McNeely has been a part of the Printing Industry for the past 35 years. From Pressroom to Bindery to Quality Management and eventually owning and operating his own shop he has been fortunate to work with some of the most talented individuals in the business. For the past 15 years he has been involved in implementing and training ERP systems specifically in print environments.

As part of a large organization he and his team implemented a single ERP solution in 26 facilities in the US and Canada under budget and on-time. Since then he has worked as an Implementation Specialist both privately and professionally for several different MIS systems. He has been with Avanti Computer Systems since 2011 with many successful implementations of the Avanti Classic Software. Jerry is a resident of Southern California.

Sasi Shanmugarajah

Development Manager, Avanti Slingshot

Sasi Shanmugarajah has been coding and building software since elementary school and continues to do so with a passion. He studied engineering at the University of Toronto and proceeded to work in a fast paced tech firm delivering customer delight in the IT industry.

After completing his MBA at the Rotman School of Management, he led the development and delivery of several multi-million-dollar software and hardware releases at IBM and Metrolinx in Ontario, Canada.  Sasi joined Avanti in late 2016 as the Development Manager of the award winning Avanti Slingshot product.

Jared Conway - Avanti Systems

Jared Conway

GM, Technology and Software

Jared Conway is a senior IT thought leader living in Toronto, Canada. With 20 years of diverse experience in software development, he joined the Avanti team in January, 2014, leading the Avanti Slingshot technology teams and the Avanti Classic business.

Prior, Jared served as Director of Technology at one of Canada’s most prestigious marketing/communication firms. He has managed large organizations of local/remote teams and has a depth of experience in the Online Marketplaces, Automotive, Real Estate, Retail, Travel/Tourism, Parking/Transportation, Energy and Gaming verticals. Jared has also managed project management offices, business analysts and analytics teams.

Jared has achieved the MCSD, MCAD, MCDBA and MCP designations and is actively working towards the PMP. His passions include gaming, software design and programming. Another innate love is travel. Having visited almost 30 countries and most of North America, Jared thrives on diversity of cultures and experiencing the world’s wonders first-hand with his wife Jenny.
